Getting In Touch
You can make contact using the form on the Contact page. A brief note about what has brought you is helpful. You are welcome to explain as much or as little as you feel comfortable to.
I will reply to your message as soon as possible and I will advise on the next steps to set up a Free Consultation.
Free Consultation
The first meeting is a free 50-minute consultation. It is a chance to talk about what you might be looking for and to help us both understand what you might be looking to receive from therapy, and whether this way of working feels like the right approach.
There is no obligation to continue. If we do decide to move on to weekly sessions, we will agree a regular weekly day and time, and discuss practical arrangements. I am available at various times through the week, allowing sessions to be held in the mornings, afternoons and evenings.
The First Sessions
Early sessions tend to be about settling into the rhythm of meeting, and beginning to make sense of what has felt most difficult. Often, simply having someone else beside you whilst you are trying to make sense of things makes a big difference.
Sometimes that means talking about current difficulties; at other times it may mean reflecting on relationships, past experiences, or feelings that are harder to name.
If you are worried about starting conversations or how to fill any silences, let me know and I can help with that.
Ongoing Weekly Work
Therapy continues weekly, at the same time each week, for 50-minute sessions. This regular rhythm allows enough continuity to develop understanding and trust.
The pace and length of therapy are shaped together. There is no fixed contract length so you are free to continue with sessions as long as you feel they are helpful. We review how things are going as often as needed.
In Person, Online, And Telephone
Sessions are available in person near Letchworth / Stotfold (SG5/SG6), by video call, and by telephone. We can talk about which format suits you best, and revisit that if your circumstances change.
The Therapy Room
If you choose to meet in person, sessions take place in a private, comfortable room near Letchworth / Stotfold.
There are some images of the Therapy space below so you have an idea of what to expect.
Confidentiality And Practicalities
Before starting, there is a Framework Agreement that I will need you to sign. It sets out the various terms of the work including confidentiality, Rescheduling and Cancellations, Intoxication and Termination of the work. This will be discussed more in the free consultation, and you are welcome to a copy any time.
What you bring to sessions is treated as confidential within the usual professional and legal limits that apply to counselling and psychotherapy. I am not registered as part of the NHS or any other kind of database, and I am registered with the ICO to comply with GDPR. These limits are included in the Framework discussed at the start of therapy.
Fees
Sessions are charged at £70 each and payment is due weekly by cash or bank transfer.
